Guide about Dissertation Writing & it's Reference Styles

Dissertation writing refers to the specific established system of referencing text by adopting the consistent principles. Various types of referencing or dissertation writing styles are present, which are different from each another in terms of ways of writing, features and origins, but all writing styles cover two basic aspects such as in-text citation (author name or year) and reference list or bibliography. These various types of dissertations writing and referencing styles include APA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian, Oxford, CGOS, GOST, Harvard, Vancouver, ASA, AMA, ACS, ACM, IEEE, ISO, LNCS, MHRA (footnotes), and CSE. Thus, in order to accomplish writing successfully through implementing the accurate writing styles, following guidelines for custom dissertation or any type of writing are needed to follow:

Placement of Reference List
In the reference list or bibliography, all references should begin from the new page of the report.

Title of the Reference List
On the reference pager, the title "Reference/ Work Cited/ Bibliography" has to be found at the center and top of the reference paper.

Arrangement & Citation Order
In final reference list, all entries ought to be organized in consecutive order. In case, if the name of author is not given in respective source, it must be denoted from the title of the document instead of page number or years.

Margin Requirement for Reference List
In reference or bibliography list, all reference entries must start from the left margin of the paper. During constructing reference list, there must be 1-inch margins on both right and left sides of the page.

Indentation
In reference list, the first line of entered sources must start from left hand side while the second, third or any consecutive lines should be indexed at six spaces.

Spacing Requirement in Reference Page
The reference part of the report must be presented with doubled-spaced line format after every single entry in reference list or bibliography.

Different Ways of Referencing Different Sources

In referencing, different sources such as encyclopaedias, newspapers, books, articles, journals, research reports, movie, magazines, cases, websites and CD-ROMs are referenced through different ways. Therefore, there is need to check the examples for citing or referencing them.

Include Source Used in Text

The source that is used in the paper must be included in the final list of references so that reader could identify the actual source of information.
